Working for a dream or working for money

Have you ever asked yourself why am I going to work? Are you going to work because you love your job or are you going to work because you want the money at the end of the month? In my life I have experienced both so far. I need to say that 90% in my last job I have not worked for the projects or the dreams who are staying behind creating houses. I was just doing it because it was my job to do it. My colleges have been really nice and the money was ok. I was feeling ok with what I am doing but I was looking that my over hours getting paid or that I get them free. In total, I can say I was happy and I was mostly happy when the right amount of money was in my bank account. In Iceland this is a different story. I am working here because I love my work. Living and working in Iceland – questions

How do you have found that job? It’s really easy just search on the internet or Facebook, there are many companies who are searching for helping hands and tour guides. Which age is required? The most people need workers over 18 years because of the driver license. How much do you get paid? I can tell you that it is definitely not as much as an architect. I have enough to life and for my surprise I can save some money. There are a ton. I am a western rider but for my luck I have ridden also English what makes it for me easier. The Icelandic horses are used to have contact with the rider over the rains. Yes you can let them hang loose when you just walk but when you want to tölt no way with the most …

One week in Iceland

So this is now my first article over my living and working in Iceland. What can I tell you so far? My start was pretty good because at the moment it is off-season and here are just a decent number of tourists. We don’t have had a full day with like 80 people and that is really nice for the tourists, for us and the horses. At the farm we are at the moment 2 girls as well as our boss. He is jumping around between 2 stables but mostly he is every second day here or every day when there are a lot of tours going on. How does my day look like? My working day start at 7.30o clock with feeding the horses. After the horses are fed it is time for our breakfast and we make us ready to start the day. Now we can decide how many layers of clothes we take on but mostly under 2 layers no chance. For me that’s pretty cool because normally I would sit at …
